Leuchtenbergia principis
Very rare , contains unknown alkaloids- gets a fragrant yellow flower , this is at flowering age ! Becomes very valuable with age ! Gets paper like spines at tips of it tubercles , very different!! This is a true cactus and although it was originally discovered in the 1800’s not that much Is know about it or it’s alkaloids ! Gets a caudex like corked trunk type exposed root at its base for a bonsai styled character . Looks great in decorative pots , and it’s strainer tubercles can blush to hues of pink and purple, highlighting its bright papery spines . It produces an oblong shape fruit that withholds viable seeds that can be grown to produce new plants ! Interestingly it can and has often been crossbred with ferro cactus! You will receive a larger cactus than the one pictured, these have grown FAT !!
