Leuchtenbergia principis with flower buds

Very rare , contains unknown alkaloids- gets a fragrant yellow flower , this is actually has flower buds on it ! Doesn’t grow that large , but becomes very valuable with age ! Gets paper like spines at tips of it tubercles , very different!! This is a true cactus and although it was originally discovered in the 1800’s not that much Is know about it or it’s alkaloids ! Gets a caudex like corked trunk type exposed root at its base for a bonsai styled character . Looks great in decorative pots , and it’s strainer tubercles can blush to hues of pink and purple, highlighting its bright papery spines . It produces an oblong shape fruit that withholds viable seeds that can be grown to produce new plants ! Interestingly it can and has often been crossbred with ferro cactus! This plant is very very healthy and fully rooted , it ships in its pot which is 4” tall and has a high quality cactus mix !
